Merry Christmas: From all at Mondo.

Thank you, as always, for all of your support throughout 2018.

2019 holds lots of exciting news for Mondo Brewing. We’ve already got some amazing collaborations lined up, new festivals to attend, brewhouse expansion and much more.

Thanks for coming along for the ride, we can’t wait to share more with you in the new year. Have a great one.

New beer: Lord Malmölé.

Released this week, and available now in the Tap House. This is a collab beer we’re really proud of. Charred blue tortillas in with the mash, cinnamon and vanilla, guajillo and pasilla chiles in the whirlpool, then we conditioned the beer on cacao nibs. It’s been our go-to winter beer in the Tap House this last week. It’s also a little dangerous. Brewed with our great friends over in Sweden, Malmö Brewing.

Keep an eye out for our next collaboration, brewed with J. Wakefield back in November, a juicy New England-style 8% DIPA, Wake & Bake. Artwork release coming soon.

Tap House news: Quiz, Best Taproom 2018.

On Wednesday January 16th, we start a run of weekly quizzes, where we’ll be inviting industry friends and locals, alongside a team of our own (we recently, shamelessly, won the Draft House Northcote quiz by a landslide, so watch out). There will be prizes. Yes, the prizes will be beer. You can order food in, we’ll likely have a different restaurant partner each week, and you can book a spot for your team by dropping Diego an email by clicking here. In other news, we’re very good friends with the team at The Brewers Journal and have huge respect for the work they do, with Head Brewer, Tom, recently involved with their Lecture and Congress talks. Editor, Tim Sheahan, was kind enough to name our tap house in his Golden Pints of 2018. Cheers, Tim! Here’s a little of what he had to say.

“…if you’re not offering consumers the opportunity to buy direct, and immerse themselves in your brewery environment, then it’s a major own goal. One brewery that has long had that string to their particular bow is Battersea’s Mondo Brewing Company. Their taproom is comfortable, it has a great bar, it’s warm in the winter and opens out in the summer. It offers a view into the brewery itself and it has clearly been built with the consumer in mind. Oh, and there’s free popcorn too. Well done to Todd, Tom, Andrew and the team. I look forward to coming down again soon!”

Introducing: Drayman Ryan.

Straight outta Durban, South Africa, to the more humid climes of Streatham, South London, we welcome Ryan Charlton to the team. Joining Mondo as our new drayman supreme, Ryan is our familiar face transporting your favourite bottles and kegs around London. He’s quite a modest fella so doesn’t like describing himself, but right now he’s enjoying our Yuzu pale and thinks it’d go best with some rugby. Ryan’s already made a great impression on our trade customers and he’s proving to be a worthy addition to the team. We better get some branded caps printed.

In tank: Trainspotting.

Missouri’s Narrow Gauge are known for their mastery of hazy, New England-style IPAs, so it would have been foolish for us not to make one of those when they joined us for a brew earlier this month. Currently still fermenting in tank, after a recent mid-fermentation dry hop of Apollo, Columbus and Comet, expect to see this beer on the bar and in bottle mid-to-end of January.
